Due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, school start dates for 2020 may have changed.
- Oregon public schools are scheduled to re-open on April 29, 2020. The 2020 – 2021 school year will begin as scheduled in the fall.
- Washington public schools are closed for the remainder of the 2019 – 2020 school year. The 2020 – 2021 school year will begin as scheduled in the fall.
The calendar has officially turned to August, which means summer break is winding down for kids in the Portland area. For those of us with busy schedules, we know how hard it can be to transition in and out of summer break. To help you start planning for the 2018-2019 school year, we’ve compiled a list of school start dates. This is not an entirely comprehensive list of back to school dates in Portland, so be sure to verify with your school district if you don’t see it listed below.
Most of the school districts start school on either September 5th or 6th, but there is some variation based on what grade your child is in. Take a look:
When Does School Start in Portland, OR 2018?
Portland School District: August 27th (1-12)/ August 30th (K)
Gresham-Barlow School District: September 4th (1-5th) / September 4-7 (K)
Reynolds School District: September 5th
Riverdale School District: August 24th (New HS Students)/August 27th (Grades 1-12)/ September 4th (K/Pre-School)
Beaverton School District: August 27th
Canby School District: September 4th (1-7th & 9th)/ September 5th (8th, 10th-12th)
Gladstone School District: September 4th (K-6th & 9th)/ September 5th (7th-8th & 10th-12th)
Lake Oswego School District: August 27th
Oregon City School District: September 4th
