Troubleshooting Samsung Refrigerator Error Codes
Power & Door Ajar Errors
Best case scenario, you’ll be able to quickly fix the problem. Power outages and open doors can cause several common error codes for Samsung refrigerators.
Error Codes: 1E, 5E, SE
Cause: Power outage. The refrigerator will not dispense ice or water until it is fixed
Fix It: Press & hold Energy Saver button & Lightning button simultaneously for 15 seconds
Error Codes: 88, 83E, 85E, 86E
Cause: Power loss. Each can be displayed if the power goes out or flashes off.
Fix It: Unplug the refrigerator, wait at least 60 seconds, replug.
Error Code: Flashing OF OF
Cause: Cooling Off Mode. Often caused by a door left ajar.
Fix It: Close the door/wait for the refrigerator to cool down
Error Code: PC ER
Cause: Door and main unit disconnection.
Fix It: Make sure there is nothing preventing the door from sealing. Wipe off any dust or debris from the top of the door.
Miscellaneous Errors

Error Code: 26E
Cause: Bad water valve or icemaker.
Fix It: Replace the water valve (lower rear of unit). Make sure the icemaker is turned on, thaw any fill tube blockages, and verify the temperature is below 8 degrees F.
Error Codes: 24E, 40E
Cause: Freezer defrost malfunction.
Fix It: Thaw frost buildup. Remove freezer contents and back inner wall of freezer. Use a hair dryer to melt any ice/frost. Re-assemble wall. Press and hold upper right and left buttons simultaneously to reset.
Error Code: 25E
Cause: Faulty refrigerator defrost.
Fix It: Verify that the defrost timer and control board are functioning properly. Replace them if not.
Error Code: 23E
Cause: Condenser fan issue.
Fix It: Make sure the refrigerator condenser fan is receiving power. Supply power if not, replace the fan if power is not the issue.
